I made this pear puff pastry dessert because we received some small pears in our CSA and I had some puff pastry in the freezer.
Pear Puff Pastry Dessert
1 puff pastry sheet
1 T. butter
5 small pears & 1 large pear – sliced
1/4 c. raisins
1 t. cinnamon
1 T. sugar
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Thaw puff pastry for 20 minutes. Heat butter in a cast iron skillet and layer in the pears. Sprinkle on cinnamon, sugar and raisins. Let pears cook for a few minutes before adding the puff pastry. Lay the pastry on top of the pears in the skillet and cut off the corners so it is a circle on top. Bake for 25 minutes.
Once out of the oven, place a plate or cookie sheet over the skillet and flip so the pastry is on the bottom and pears on the top. Slice and eat with vanilla ice cream.
Notes: Use more pears! Maybe one or two more large pears. This type of pastry is called a Tart Tartin and is a french dessert that normally uses apples.
